Frequently asked questions

Understanding QR codes

What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?+

A static QR code stores its destination in the pattern. You cannot change it after printing, and no account is required. A dynamic link code lets you update the destination from your dashboard. Optional expiry dates, scan limits and fallback URLs are available on the free plan.

Are QR codes safe to scan?+

A QR code is just an encoded link or text — it cannot run anything by itself. The safest habit is to check the preview your phone shows before opening a link. Codes you generate here are created in your browser and never tamper with the destination.

Do QR codes expire?+

Static QR codes have no expiry date. Dynamic link codes support an optional expiry date or scan limit that you control. Photo, PDF and audio codes follow the free or permanent hosting terms on our pricing page. No subscription is required.

Does the same QR code work on iPhone and Android?+

Yes. Modern iOS and Android cameras read QR codes natively — no separate app needed. Wi-Fi, contact and link codes all open the right action on both platforms.

Creating & customizing

Is qrforprint really free?+

Yes. The free plan includes unlimited static QR codes with your logo and brand colors, print-ready PNG, SVG, PDF and EPS downloads with no watermark, and up to 3 dynamic codes with analytics. Photo, PDF and audio codes also start free. When a code has to last, you make that one code permanent for $4.99, paid once, with no subscription. Need several? The 5 code pack is $22.99 once and puts 5 credits on your account.

Can I add my logo and brand colors?+

Absolutely. Drop in a logo, set the code and background colors (RGB, CMYK, or a named spot color for print), pick a dot and corner style, and the built-in checker keeps the code scannable while you design.

What file formats can I download?+

PNG for digital use, SVG and vector PDF for infinite-resolution printing, and EPS for professional print workflows, all free and without a watermark on the QR generator. Spot-color print PDFs are available once you name a spot channel in the editor.

Can I change where a code points after printing it?+

Only with a dynamic code. Print it once, then edit the destination from your dashboard — the update goes live in about a minute without reprinting anything.

Do you track scans?+

Dynamic codes record scan count, country and device type so you can measure a campaign. Static codes encode the destination directly and are not tracked. You can also add UTM parameters to feed your own Google Analytics.
