Keep the pattern dark against a light background. Preserve the clear margin when placing the exported file in your layout.

Cards and flyers
Place the code where a hand will not cover it. A short destination label tells the reader what will open.
Labels and packaging
Keep the code off folds, seams and strongly curved surfaces. Test it on the actual package after the label is attached.
Posters and signs
Choose a reachable scanning position and test from where people will stand. Poster dimensions alone do not determine the QR size.
Choose the file your printer can use
PNG is a raster image, so its pixel count limits enlargement. SVG preserves vector geometry for a simple code. PDF and EPS are also available in the generator. Framed designs and uploaded images can contain raster content even inside a vector file format. Ask the printer which format and color workflow they need before export.
Keep the quiet zone separate from bleed
DENSO WAVE specifies a clear margin four modules wide on each side of a standard QR code. A module is one small square in the pattern. This quiet zone belongs inside the finished design. Bleed is artwork beyond the trim edge and cannot replace the quiet zone.
Check the finished material
A successful screen scan checks the digital design. It does not test paper, ink spread, lamination, glare or installation height. Print a proof using the intended process and scan it with the phones your audience uses. If scanning is inconsistent, enlarge the code, simplify the design or move it to a flatter surface.

A dynamic code lets you edit its destination from your account while the code remains active under your plan. A static code cannot be changed after export. The free plan includes up to 3 dynamic codes.
